- MCipher E-mail Usage!
-
- --Please make sure you review the documentation provided
- (cipher.doc) before reading this. A basic knowledge of MCipher
- terminology and usage is required.
-
- If you want to provide truly private email for yourself, your
- organization, or your network, MCipher is the answer. Unlike some
- encryption packages, MCipher encrypts into a straight readable ASCII
- file that can be sent as the body of an email message.
-
- When MCipher encrypts a file it puts a '' (ASCII #5, a "club") at
- the beginning and end and of the ciphered text. When MCipher decrypts
- it looks for these clubs to know where the ciphertext begins and ends.
- This means that you can send MCipher encrypted email to a friend and he
- can easily decode it. How? Once he receives his encrypted mail he can
- just capture the screen to a file. When he runs MCipher on this file,
- MCipher will search for the clubs () so that it knows which part(s) of the
- file are/is ciphertext and which part(s) are/is plaintext. The decoded
- file will look identical to the original but all ciphered text will be
- deciphered and readable.

- MCipher is just now being implemented into email security. If you are
- looking to implement it in your network or are having difficulties
- please feel free to call me at my BBS: (804) 285-3388 or by emailing
- me on the Blue Ridge Express BBS at (804) 790-1675.
-
- If you would like to include MCipher in any other piece of software
- (such as in an email network system) please contact me and tell me so.
- I ask this only as a courtesy so I know who's using my software and for
- what.<g>
